The “space brits” come with Prussian-style headgear for Mordians, and Pith Helmets for Praetorians.

Unfortunately this set is not out yet, but it’s perfect. Mordian Iron Guard (and Praetorians)- shockingly, WGA has our back again.
Proxie models 28mm upgrade#
As a side note, the upgrade Sprue I mentioned at the start also has gas masked versions of the other German helmets, for added options. Note that you can still make all 24 German soldiers in the set without using any of the gas mask heads, giving you another 2 guardsmen squads. Their French infantry with masked heads work well enough on their own, but if you really want to go all out, you can swap them with the gas mask heads from the German set. You could also go for any of the Krieg options below and optionally swap out the helmets.ĭeath Korps of Krieg- WGA’s Great War Range is your best option here, with their kits having absurd amounts of options. However, they’re very bulky (I use them for cold-weather troops), which can put many people off. Wargames Atlantic’s Raumjäger are my first recommendation, being literally sci-fi Fallschirmjager. GWs Kriegsmen can be given appropriate colours as a proxy, and while their helmets are used, the Fallschirmjager jump helmets are more iconic to the steel legion in my opinion. Steel Legion- This one was surprisingly tough, but you have a few options. These are the companies first plastic infantry (aside from an old MG team), but they produce the best vehicle models in 28mm/1:56 scale, no contest, so I see them as a safe bet.
Proxie models 28mm how to#
They get an honourable mention, as the sheer amount of options they provide for any 28mm game (I use them for Bolt-Action, for example) eclipses everything else.įirstly, I want to suggest how to recreate the existing regiments, and then I’ll go on to other options.Ĭatachan- Rubicon is going to release a couple of sets of plastic Vietnam-era US infantry.
Proxie models 28mm full#
They do have the option for full figures, but they’re more costly than the GW ones. You can just use them as counts-as Lasguns, but it’s worth noting Wargames Atlantic is about to release a £6 upgrade Sprue that’s explicitly intended to convert sci fi versions of their historical miniatures.Īnvil Industry is a bit different from the others, in that they sell resin bits. Said kit is actually designed to be the same scale as the Cadians, but they’re a bit too bulky (I personally use them as troops in winter uniforms due to this).įor one final note, weapons are the main issue with most of these, as they’ll have congenital firearms. For what it’s worth, I’ve put an emphasis on Wargames Atlantic kits here, and they fit in perfectly scale wise with Imperial Guard from GW, aside from their Raumjager. However, I’ve had a few people tell me they don’t feel, for example, Perry truescale plastic kits fit in with Cadians, so that’s something to keep in mind. I’d also argue that they’re mostly all within the realm of possibility for human dimensions. I personally don’t mind it as GW scaling is all over the place- for example, Perry Miniatures look really thin and tall compared to Cadians, but fit in well with Battle Sisters, and Warlord models look really bulky and deformed compared to the new Kriegsmen, but don’t look too out of place next to catachans. One thing that’s worth keeping in mind is that while these models are all 28mm, there is some difference in scaling. Note that this guide is non-exhaustive, and I’m not including companies I don’t have experience with (sorry, Victoria Miniatures), but I’d encourage everyone else to chip in with their experience(s)! The biggest benefit of these in addition to the increased variation and customisability is Price- £20-25 is the norm, but that’ll get you anywhere from 20 to 40 models, compared to the 10 from GW. I’m a big fan of other Wargames, and I’ve found a lot of Imperial Guard proxy options, and wanted to make a guide and share. Hello all! 40k’s Imperial Guard has an insane amount of varied regiments, but at time of writing, only the Cadians, Catachans, Scions, and Krieg have plastic kits- of those, the former two are ancient, and the last one is still exclusive to a box set.
